DO NOT USE. TOTAL SCAM!

They subcontract out. Estimate was for $2,900 for two bedrooms and 20 boxes. Movers showed up it was over $4k for one bedroom and a couch. Total ended up being well over $6k, more than double the estimate even after we decided to ditch our furniture. They charged over $1550 just in binding when it’s listed as included. They broke a door out of the frame so it won’t even close before we needed to leave. Left all their garbage behind including boxes, tape, and plastic. When we called to argue the price they said it’s because we have a bulky sectional. Sectional was 3 pieces and we actually left 3 large sofa chairs and another sectional, but that didn’t matter. I said I’d leave the sectional behind and take it off the truck and they still couldn’t right their wrong. We were also told the items would be delivered next day then found out it could take up to 10 business days. We are now forced to move out of state with 1/3 our belongings only bringing necessary items. They were late for pick up as well. The actual moving company it was subcontracted out to said they do this all the time and it happens at every pick up. If I could give a negative star rating I would. They give you a price to hook you in and then you’re left scrambling with no other options but to pay what they demand as they hold your items hostage. WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE!!

Worst company I’ve ever worked with

I have never written a review, but this experience was truly the worst I’ve ever had. This company is a complete scam, once I hired them it was impossible to get ahold of them. They mis quoted me and threatened to keep my deposit. I wrote them a letter outlining my experience and asking for my original quote and for someone from management to listen in on the CS calls so they could understand how awful the customer service agents were to me, no one got back to me. They were incredibly rude, and hung up on me many times. Please, do not use this company!

Move to Florida

The guys were professional and polite. They worked hard as soon as they got to the house. Everything was moved smoothly and put back together well. Items were packed really well and nothing was damaged. We had good communication withour coordinator Tony Simmons prior to our move and he called to check in after the move. Very well knowledgeable and very accurate when it came down to pricing. Thanks Tony you made this move go so well and thanks to Capital City Moving for the professional A + Service

WORST experience ever!

This service is a broker, not actual movers. They seem to give you a good deal then double it after they've locked you into a contract. The actual movers they hired were a nightmare & Capital City was NOT helpful in righting the situation. My belongings took over a month and a half (guaranteed w/in 21 days and a ton of my things were broken or missing. Original cost was going to be $4300 but doubled to $8400. They didn't care that I couldn't afford that.

A bunch of scammers

Avoid this company at all costs!!!! This company does nothing but sell you lies on the phone, lock you in on a non refundable deposit and intentionally inventory your items incorrectly to then adjust your items later on your “quality assurance” call. Which will then require another deposit! Then what I have noticed they use cash extortion techniques on the day of the move with their third party move to get more money out of you. Some customers have filed legal complaints and law suits. Some people are out $5,000-$15,000 dollars because of their dirty tactics. Some people have complained of their items never even arriving to its final destination.

Beware.

Really BAD experience . .

We reluctantly entered into a contract with this company because we made an offer on a house out of state and felt pressured to accept their "deal" because of a short time window to close. When we hesitated, they immediately came down in price to "close the sale". We accepted and they took our deposit out of our bank account the next day. When our deal fell through and we canceled the contract it took them a month and a half to give us our deposit back. They were not easy to deal with and I would never use them again.

*DO NOT USE* TOTAL FRAUDS

*BEWARE!! NOT MOVERS! BROKERS WHO MISREPRESENT THEMSELVES AND DON'T VET THEIR ACTUAL MOVERS!*

They are NOT movers they're brokers-they don't disclose that while talking to you, but it is buried in their contract. Got a call from a very unprofessional, pushy, man, from actual moving company. He wanted to move up the date of my move to better accommodate him, and was evasive about who he was working for "the mover" "yes, yes, Capital, the one you talked to". left me with BAD feeling! Searched his number, it's tied to Prestige Vanlines Inc. out of New Jersey- They have nothing but bad reviews with the Better Business Bureau, as well as other sites, with horror stories about people having their items held hostage in storage until a much larger amount than the estimate was paid. I also looked up their DOT # (2510512) - the US DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has complaints against them and shows them as having a pending insurance cancellation. Obviously, I did NOT want to do business with this company!

I called Capital the same day that I got the call from this man with Prestige, and was told that they could "maybe" get a different mover but it wouldn't be on my moving dates, and when I said I wanted to cancel, I was told I'd have to talk to the supervisor or dispatcher about that... It was a Friday afternoon and I was told they'd call me Monday. They did not call Monday. They called Tuesday wanting to "make sure we were all set". I told them I'd cancelled Friday because they were not forthcoming with the fact that they are actually brokers, and they did not vet their movers, the company they were trying to use was not what they claimed it would be and was totally disreputable. They still have my $1300 deposit, and refuse to refund me despite their fraudulent behavior.

Would stay away

PSA - I would stay away from this moving company. Deceptive agent and very poor communication/implementation by their contracted movers. My car moving rate increased 20% day of moving (held hostage as was too late to change), and the house rate increased ~30% due to misrepresentation/lack of transparency. The sales agent basically lied to make a sale. They use moving vendors that are highly unprofessional, communicate very poorly, are not transparent inflated costs at the time of moving, don't answer calls, won't honor the contract about unloading at arrival destination. Reached out several times with no resolution. Very poor experience.

The call for the quote was enough for me!

They are a SCAM. The initial call started out fine but soon turned into a pressure to get some money out of me. The quote went from $10K to 8K and they eventually hung up on me when I insisted on doing my due diligence first before handing over any deposit (especially $4K). They are sharks and went from thanking me for my service to hanging up on me because I wanted to get a few quotes from other companies. Very unprofessional and nasty! Not a moving company but a broker.. Stay away!

Very poor service. They pretended that they're a moving company with their own trucks while they are a broker who pairs you with random moving companies many with terrible service. They later claimed they work with A rated companies only to deal with Quick Move LLC, a company with 1 star who break, steal and misplace valuable belongings. Stay away from Capital City or know what you're getting yourself into.

Smooth Move

The crew was every bit as good. They showed up right on time, did a heroic, quiet, steady, and very efficient job with the move, took care of a fourth-floor apartment 80 yards from the moving van, and moved into the new place a piano that needed to go upstairs, a couch that needed to go through a window, and a very heavy desk. And they were downright easygoing and cheerful. The cost was less than I'd been expecting. I got an excellent experience from them. Highly recommend them!

Thumbs Up!

The moving team (3 people came for a 2 bed) came at the start of the moving window and were very friendly. Being that we are moving during a pandemic, the team wore face masks the entire time and were careful to keep space. They were able to complete our full move within 3.5 hours, and this includes professionally wrapping furniture. The team made an otherwise stressful move relaxing. I would recommend them!

Be careful and do thorough due diligence.

The purpose of this review is to alert the public of the misleading practices of this company. I was initially very optimistic about utilizing their services after the majority of positive online reviews but that optimism quickly faded. I was in a bind after a moving company failed to show up and decided to cancel them due to recent horrendous reviews. I saw that capital city moving had overall good ratings so called them and was able to “emergently”book a one bedroom move (3rd floor apartment) from PA to GA for an itemized quote of 3550). Customer service seemed very helpful initially and assured that I would be “prioritized” for Tuesday. On Tuesday, I received no correspondence so I called. They stated that I’m “prioritized” for that day but my pickup window would be Tuesday- Thursday. I am ab healthcare provider and needed to be in GA by Thursday morning which I informed the…stated they would include it in their notes. Fast forward Wednesday, I waited , no one called..I then called midday and was told I had no pick up time but I am “definitely scheduled for pickup between 8am-2pm” on Thursday. Thursday arrives, waited again,no one showed up, no call from customer service/ driver. After 2 pm, I called CAPITAL CITY MOVING to confirm the movers were actually coming… The customer service representative confirmed the movers were “enroute to me” and would definitely be there . Fast forward over an hour later, no one shows up. I get a call from the driver apologizing saying that he is currently at another job which he wouldn’t finish for another 1.5hrs (this is after being told “they were en route to you”) and would take 3hrs to get to me afterward. He additionally states that he was just handed the contract by his boss and unfortunately wouldn’t be able to accommodate due to his desire to attend a friend’s vigil that evening. I sympathized with him so when he said he would guarantee a pickup between 8am-10am on Friday, despite being in inconvenienced, I obliged and asked if he could come by 8am. He assured me he would be there for sure at 8. Fast forward Friday it’s 9am but have not received any correspondence. I called his number and he told me they’ll arrive by 10:30am.. I then call capital city customer service to request a potential discount due to the time/money lost but they were unhelpful. The drivers show up a little before 1pm, no call, no courtesy….this is where my frustration mounts.. they arrive in a Penske truck, QUICK MOVE,LLC is the company( I was expecting a capital city truck as pictured online and their movers)…enters my apartment, looks around ands says my moving cost will likely more than the estimate as they charge for flights 250 per large item (an additional $750)I was under the impression was included in the quote( as they asked how many flights of stairs at both locations and gave ‘discounts’) and that I’ll probably need more “lines in the truck.” I was expecting my quote to be less given that I sold furniture and gave away items after the initial quote. After expressing my frustration, he said he’ll try to place the items without the additional charge but I have to tip the two additional movers $100 each… I immediately felt like I was being ripped off and taken advantage of. At this point I just wanted to leave so told them to go ahead and I’ll pay that tip. They proceeded to fill the truck..then towards the end, he returns, says he thinks I’m going to need another line (which he made reference to when he initially did the evaluation)… He asks if I have paper because needs to write out the quote…He quotes me a total cost of 5800 to add an additional line with few items… .. I was so upset.… I call capital city who defended the company and says I’m taking up more space (mind you the person who initially drafted the contract quaranteed this number)… I was expecting to pay a little less given that I had sold a chest of drawer with mirror. The movers did not have to do much (besides wrap the couch and futon…My bed was essentially already dissembled as both the head and foot board were not attached. Ultimately I told them to either take the bedroom set off the truck and I’ll toss and purchase a new set for the price in GA for that ridiculous price. He said it’ll be additional work.. I told him to pack whatever you can for the 3550 because I would not be payinug 5800 to move a lightly furnished one bedroom. I’m now still in PA with some of my items which I will (give away/donate).They took the other items, I was “approved” a credit card payment by Capital city for half the balance on pickup but the company wouldn’t accept because “their credit card machine was broken.” So they received payment via Zelle, received their $200 tip via his number and I’m praying I won’t have to fight to get my items delivered. I haven’t been this upset in a very long time and urge you to read the contract in detail and have them provide the exact costs if you choose to use CAPITAL CITY MOVING LLC/ QUICK MOVE LLC.

Rip Off

I told them everything I had and they quoted me 9800. Once the actual movers arrived I was told it was going to be an additional 7000 dollars. Capital City said there was nothing they could do and sorry. They quoted me saying they would move my bulky items and and have it wrapped. The movers said Capital City never gave them that as their contract and that was an extra 2000 dollars. If you want a real mover. Call Mayflower. Dont use these people

Sources 1-star middlemen to move your stuff

I had about 3 calls with Capital City Moving, with a knowledgable sales person in FL. I was sold based on the person seeming very competent and I liked that the business was vet run. To make sure the company was legitimate, we read all the reviews and checked the DOT number - they were all clear - no crazy complaints, but boy were we wrong.

Fast forward 3 weeks later to our move that was handed off to USA Logistics, a fellow moving company that has 1 star on mymovingreviews.com where they changed our quote from $2400 to $5000 on the moving spot for our 1-bedroom apartment. 5 days later after the pickup and the double charge, still no sign of our goods and all Capital City can say is to keep calling USA logistics.

Save your money and heartache. Use a more reputable moving company that does not use horrible 3rd party movers that will not honor the original terms of the agreement - moving times, payment terms, final payment, insurance, etc. We were forced to sign a whole new packet of papers with USA logistics as they tried to pressure me to waive liability on their end and to sign everything quickly on the spot at 8pm at night.

Stay away

These reviews are likely fake, stay far away. This company set me up with another moving company who came and collected everything I owned, and have completely vanished off the face of the earth.

This is most likely a shell company with fake reviews who sets people up to be victims of a scam. If your belongings are worth more than the insurance you buy, expect to never see you things again. Just like me. It is a very popular scam occuring right now, and I have no reason to believe anything different.

They refused to refund any amount of my $2000 + dollars given to them because "they did their part". Their part consisted of literally getting a company to come to my house, pick up everything I own, and then vanish. Its astounding that they believe that is actually what their part of this process entails... they probably dont though, I am sure this is just part of the scam... gotta say certain things just incase legal gets involved.

Horrible, stay away

It all starts with some very nice professional-sounding and bubbly people calling you and assuring you that they will take care of you with the best price and highest quality on the market. What they don't advertise is that they are just a broker whose only involvement is to transfer your order to another company and have zero responsibility for whatever happens.

If all goes well, then you're lucky - I'm guessing that's where the positive reviews are coming from. If something goes wrong, these people have ZERO interest in helping resolve your problem, and they refuse to take any accountability for it. I wish I had just picked an actual moving company directly instead of bringing my business to these completely useless, and actually harmful, middlemen.

Other than just being useless, here's what they do that makes me recommend that you stay as far away from them as possible:

1. They do not do their due diligence when choosing a company that will execute your move. Google "East Freight Logistics" to see what I am talking about. At the time of my pickup, this contractor was already IN THE LOCAL NEWS for delaying people's deliveries for months, not answering to calls for weeks, not giving ETAs, etc. I had a very similar experience with what's described in the news articles, although luckily I just had to wait for a little under a month. Capital City could only tell me that they "will be doing away with this contractor". Why this hadn't happened 3 months before I will never know.

2. They promise you things they know they can't deliver. During the initial phone call, I was told in no uncertain terms that, being the large professional company they are, they offer next-day delivery of my items! I was immediately sold, and it made sense, since my move was just over 150 miles. As soon as my stuff got picked up and I called Capital City to confirm my delivery date, their rhetoric changed to "it's standard that for this distance it will take up to 7 business days, we don't know why you were promised next-day delivery." When my stuff actually showed up almost 4 weeks (!) later, the contractor company refused to compensate me for anything, because apparently the actual contract (that I don't even have access to now, with everything being online) set their acceptable delivery window to 30 days, so they are well within the limits. Amazing sleight of hand, 1 day becomes 30 days in the blink of an eye.

3. They low-ball your original estimate! You might (as I did) want to choose this company because their estimates are lower than what some smaller companies offer. Don't believe that. Three days before your pick-up date (when you had already put down your deposit, and it's way too late to find new movers) their QA department calls you to "make sure everything is in order". During that call, they tell you that when you said "I have a bed and a mattress", they did not account for the fact (or ask you) that the bed might a headboard and a footboard. This, and some other stuff like that, and at the last minute your estimate goes up by $500. Which made it on par with other estimates I got from smaller companies, who I guess were just telling the truth from the start.

4. Customer support... The ladies that pick up the phone are nice enough, and it looks like some of them might actually be trying to help with your issues (although unsuccessfully, and they never call you back even after assuring you they would). But I also had the pleasure of talking to another guy, probably a "manager" of some sort. This was when my pick-up was already over 4 hours late, and I've been on hold on the call with them for 1.5 hours. This dude just immediately starts telling me that "actually they promise a 3-day pick-up window", so nothing is going wrong. When I told him that: a) that was not what I agreed on when I signed the contract; b) I already had a specific date and time confirmed, - he finally let it go. After I (very politely) told him that I would be expecting some kind of discount for this inconvenience, he immediately started acting like a complete jerk, telling me that "if we go over the contract", then I will see the company is not liable for anything, and any problem I have is between me and the contractor, because Capital City is "just the broker".

And that last part was completely accurate. This company is just a broker who gives promises that are not theirs to make, misrepresents the provided services, and has terrible customer support. Do yourself a favor and don't let them charm you into giving them your hard-earned money. Pick an actual moving company with good reviews.

Terrible Company, don't trust them

This company significantly misquoted me for an important move, blame the mistake on their Junior employee, telling me that they are too busy to get all the details right the first time.

The customer service follow up is none existent with severe lack of consideration, they choose not to tell me some of the most important information on the terms and condition.

They are cold, inconsiderate, insincere, or responsive (besides the "junior employee" who clearly over promised and so the moving broker can severely under deliver)

This has been a nightmare for me and I regret to ever have worked with them.

UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!

They get 1 star only because I had to select one to proceed with the review. CSR's and the Ops Mgr- Paul are extremely rude. I don't know who owns this company but the employees have zero customer service experience at all. As soon as the call is answered they have a rude tone and attitude. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. They cut you off in mid sentence and the talk like a 10 year old. Paul kept repeating my name and dragging the pronunciation like a kid! I've moved across the country a bit and this is the worst company to work with. My initial call was to confirm if I was put on the schedule for my move date - 9/17/2021. Mind you they include a few days ("incase something comes up" as I was told by Jay) but that my selected move date would be scheduled. All I need to know is if I'm on the schedule or not so i can make arrangements with my apartments. Paul continued to mock me about my questions. Paul continued to say they do not know the schedule until a few hours before. (BAD BAD business practice) It took 20 minutes to argue with him to tell me I was not on the schedule for 9/17/21. Worst experience ever

I have never worked with a company as rude or fraudulent as this one! Moving is stressful enough but to be lied to from the beginning and then when you try to cancel with more than a months notice they keep the deposit and hang up on you!! I was told that I could cancel anytime but if it was outside 3 days I would have to pay a 10% penalty! That I get and I am willing to pay a fee! But to retain $1474 dollars for a one hour phone call is stealing! The CRS was so rude and literally told me she couldn’t care less what my conversation was or how much in advance notice I gave them I wasn’t getting ANY of my deposit back!!! Most unprofessional company and I seriously do not know how they are still in business!!! The fact that they represent themselves as Vet supporting is so incredibly insulting!!! I even thought OK they are keeping my money and have done nothing to earn it so I asked about their packing service! I figured I could at least use them for that and I wouldn’t feel so bad throwing away almost $1500 and then I was told told no sorry we only offer packing services when it’s incorporated with a move! Comon!!!!! Work with your clients just a little and don’t just try to screw people because that’s what your doing!!!! You should send your CRS folks to school to learn how to be true customer services reps and not just mean Too Bad attitudes!!

Don't give these people your money

We still don't have our possessions.

This company that claimed they could move my household to another state. They quoted me approximately 5000$ They used terms like "we" and made promises detailing how our things would be moved. In fact they are a broker and had no idea who was going to move our things. After agreeing to the quoted amount we found out that they have a 1200$ non-refundable deposite. After deciding to save money by not canceling they charged us another 4000$ by judging how much we had to move after the first quote. When the actual moving company showed up we were charged yet another 5000$ AFTER our things were packed in the truck because the company charges by square footage, again something that was not disclosed previously. Not only did we have to pay nearly 14,000$ for the move but the truck provided did not have enough room for all of our belongings causing us to have to rent another truck and move the rest ourselves. Also, we were promised that the company would take apart our furniture which was not the case and that they would move us with out extra charges but actually will charge extra for moving boxes up-stairs (we moved into a two story house). Both the broker and the moving company have been very very difficult to get ahold of, dodging calls and not responding. They picked up our things three weeks ago and have yet to hear from the company as to when they will arrive. They have in their possession, my father's cremains, family photos and other irreplaceable items. The stress this has caused my family is forcing me to reach out and ask legal advice. Please don't hire this company, save your sanity and your money.

I used this company to move me from California to Oklahoma. First off they tell major lies about when your stuff will be delivered and they hire people who are doing fraudulent work! The first set of movers they sent to my house had no tools and they were asking me to Zelle them money! I sent them off and called capital city moving back and told them send another crew because capital city moving wouldn’t refund me my 2,000 dollars back even thought they hired unprofessional people to come to my home! So they send the next 2 men out the following week to get my belongings and I went from a contract pay of 4800 to now paying 9,000 dollars for a 3 bedroom move! This was beginning of October and I still DO NOT have my belongings and when I call capital city to tell them my concerns they give me the run around and claim a manager will call me and they never do!!! So sadly I found out the company they hired are not even legal to be doing moves. They are using fake DOT numbers and fake names on contracts! My stuff has been sitting in a storage, and the mover asked me to send money to an account that has nothing to do with this move! Save the money and the headache and move your home yourself! They are all scammers and now they have a huge lawsuit on their hands for contracting movers who are committing fraud! If you are reading this please file lawsuits immediately! Myself and 4 others are already in the process!!
